Are the side mirrors on Veradas chromatic?

Mine has a scratch on the actual mirror and wondering if I can just replace the mirror to avoid having to paint anything?

The mirrors are one part. You will require a verada one unless its a passenger side, as they are all non chromatic

It is the passenger side.
So I cannot simply swap over the actual mirror lens, just the whole mirror?

Only the driver's side was Chromatic, the passenger is just standard glass. You can swap over the mirror lens, but they are strongly adhered on. (At least, my KJ driver's side chromatic one was, I assume the passenger side would be built the same, I've never cracked one open.)

Apparently you don't want to go dismantling the mirrors as they are as cow of a thing to put back together or pull apart.

As you said ,two choices...replace the whole assembly or pop the mirror out and replace.

I removed the glass from a Verada drivers side last week and it just clips off.

The actual glass is held on by clips...insert two screwdrivers on either side and slowly exert pressure and wiggle, should then just pop off.

Mine seperated by adhesive. I know this as I had to redo it. Perhaps the glass is held to the clip plate which in turn unclips, but removing mine was 100% an adhesive job.

If the glass is already broken or scratched you have nothing to loose by pulling it off. Gentle levering should pop it off. Then you can see how it is mounted. There are two points where the electric motors attach, have a good look how that works.
The glass complete with plastic backing are available from Mitsu, quite cheap. (and if you are really desperate, a glass shop will cut you one and glue in onto the backing for you. )
Just clips back in.
You may need to cycle the electric motors a bit to get them to work correctly.

And if you are wondering, yes, the mirror housing can be completely dismantled for painting.

I think the double sided tape is either late model 3rd gen thing, or someones damaged your mirrors and reinstalled them with double sided tape. Mine didn't have any on it, 1 second and a flat bladed screw driver and mine came off when I smashed a mirror.

The mirror glass and the whole exterior mirror are so easy to remove, it's a wonder more don't get stolen. I've only had one stolen (silly grand daughter borrowed my TS and left it parked out on the street overnight) and one was missing when I bought my TJ. Both driver's side. lol

Is the US driver side mirror (our passenger) chromatic?

I think theirs were all heated. At least some were, I don't think they got chromatic.

Correct. No USA cars got chromatic exterior mirrors.

Some have heated mirrors when a winter pack (heated seats, mirrors) were specified.
