Hi folks for those of you whom have had experience in fitting new VLAs to these engines would you recommend priming them with diesel as per the manual or fitting them not primed but lubricated on the exterior surfaces,
Some Mitsubishi experts say to allow the engine to pump them up itself at idle.
Just wondering.

Nope, fill them up! Avoids half an hour of clattering idle.
They will still clatter a fair bit anyway, even if you fill them carefully.
They need to be filled up before installing so you can test if they hold pressure.

Prime them with either Diesel or sewing machine oil.

Just to be sure is it safe to start engine immediately after fitting primed up lifters or should it be allowed to sit overnight as suggested on some web sites?

Thanks Madmax just some sites say valves are likely to clobber piston not sure how that would eventuate but will crank her up when done.
