The ANTI-LOCK and (!) handbrake lights are lit up on the dash which indicates a problem with abs according to the manual. I suspect its a sensor, but is there any way to diagnose the problem before I start replacing things?

You can try pulling the codes from the car to see whether it's logged a problem. That would be the first step.

How do I do it? If I recall correctly, it can be done by using paperclip to ground certain pins together, but i'm not 100% sure. Bonus points if anyone can find a link to instructions!

Check the brake level float and brake fluid level

Yeah, you ground a couple of pins or some such. Hit me up with your email and I'll send the diagram and codes to you.

Thanks for the reply Mal. Where is the ABS modulator ECU? How do I access it? Is it Model exclusive or can I get one from any magna to use in my car? How do I go about replacing it?

It's located on the passenger side, right near the door, I belive.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for. Does the entire unit need replacing? How easy is it to get to and to swap? I am gonna go grab one from my local wreckers.

My SRS light appears on and off sometimes. Is this what you mean?

Located in the engine bay just behind the passenger side strut tower. It's the unit that all the brake lines run into.

That's not the ecu, bud.
The ecu is located near the passenger door, inside the car.

Depends on the model "bud" as the th onwards has the ecu as part of the modulator unit in the engine bay

Check your facts "bud". The op has a TH Sports, ecu is exactly where I said it is.

Swapped out the ABS module on the passenger side of the engine bay, problem is fixed. Exactly the same part# from the TL donor car. Once again Madmagna is right. :P Thanks Mal and 6g75 Verada!

I have the same problem...anti-lock and handbrake light coming on on the instrument panel.

Got my regular mechanic to have a look at it. He couldn't communicate with the computer. Midas had a look and could communicate for a minute or so, then nothing.

So...I had Mitsubishi check it out. The diagnosis is... there's an ECU that's part of the hydraulic thingo that has the brake fluid lines going to each wheel. It's located in the engine bay. This whole unit needs to be replaced.

They quoted over $1400 for the replacement part, and $290 to replace it. OUCH.

Does any one know if I could get one from the wreckers, or is that a waste of time.

Is there any one here that could do the job cheaper, perhaps using one from the wreckers? I'm very interested to find out. Even if I have to travel some distance to save some money, that's fine.

Looking forward to any replies...cheers.
