Hi,
Can anyone post some pictures of a KJ Verada (preferably a light color) with a matte black grille?
Thanks
Does this help?? Was a sports wagon with a KJ blacked out grille leaving the outside chrome or white i think. Cant tell from my phone.

Just to confirm I had both the chrome and white surrounds on the matte grille (home painted) at different stages.
I definitely preferred the chrome surround.
p.s. miss that car :(

Thanks for the info Pickles.
Personally if I go ahead with it I think I would make the whole thing matte black.
The grille is chipped here and there and under the black there seems to be chrome, so the idea of painting it matte black is to "rejuvenate" it a bit while hopefully giving it a more aggressive look

Mine was chipped too, thus why I painted it as you plan to!

Do you know if sandblasting the grille would make it all chrome or take the chrome off too?

Why not just plasti-dip the grill?
You can now get a can for around 30 bucks at Autobarn.

Does this mean I won't need to sand it back, and can peel the pastidip off whenever I want?

Yep. Pretty much!
Plastidip can be a bit of work to get off, but it does come off and leaves the surface underneath unscathed. Most can remove plastidip with a high pressure washer.

If you do multiple coats of dip (like 4 or 5), it'll peel off easier. I dipped my grille and bonnet (to hide the failing clear coat). Except the weirdest part is, it looks pretty dang good. A few of my friends actually told me to paint the rest of the car and leave the bonnet dipped. Except mine if i remember right is the same as your guy's TJ so looks are different, but that wasn't the point of the post :P. It's a 01 Diamante LS imported into the US.
