Just had the engine exhaust pipes exchanged under warranty.
What are these? the service guy said its the v-pipes that join
to the engine manifold and they had rattling at that rpm.
Does this mean extractors? i forgot to ask him!
Anyway,
there was a some buzzing noise coming from the engine bay
when maintaining acceleration at 1700rpm
slow acceleration from 55kmh to 70kmh in fifth gear gets the
noise going usually
(best noticed at night when its quieter, as its a light buzzing noise)
The service guy said it is a known issue! anyone other TJs experience that?

Yes i have like a buzzin ot rattling (not loud) at low revs low speed dunno what it is some have suggested that it could be the heat sheild vibrating againest the cat others say your cat could be cactus i have no idea what it is havent been to fussed about it but would be interested if you find out what it is

Dunno if this is the same of course - but.
I was struggling to find out similar problem with my headers (brand irrelevant) and took off all heat shields, changed the Cat, checked all bolts etc etc. Finally discovered it was the flexi section in the pipe, before Cat. Put two 100 mm metallic pipe clamps on it to tighten it - and voila, rattle gone. It was happening at 2000 and then repeated at some intervals.
Worth to try, eh! Cost 5 bux.

hmmm well theres at least two of you with that problem,
so I guess it must be a known issue at the factory.
the cable idea sounds good though if you're out of warranty.

only thing now is my car smells like slight burnt exhaust
after stoping. probably due to new parts, will wait longer
and see if it goes away :)

Hahaha, I spoilt the white car brigade.

Actually I dont know the real colour of my car, it's sort of greeny blue.

Ok hijacked thread back on course.

I had a similar problem in a camira, all it came down to was some loose brackets, once on my old commodore vn it was a broken rubber mount on one side so it sort of rattled at certain engine speeds.
Worth a look at your brackets, even get someone to rev it a bit while looking underneath to pinpoint the problem a bit more easily.
If you can fix it yourself even better.

The Greeny-Blue colour of your car has two names:
1. Lugarno Pearl
2. Turquoise Pearl

Come on where are more white cars?! :)

The exhaust smell seems to have gone away I think.
Perhaps just a new parts running in.

Yeah i have that problem in my KH but its not a buzzing noise but more of a groaning noise just around 1600/1800 rpm under very slight acceleration while cruising.
Went to a few exhaust places today and they all said that it is the flexi pipe.
Getting it replaced tomorrow costing a couple of hundred apparently.
Will let you all know how it goes.

Yep...I had the same thing before I had it replaced under warranty. It's caused by a metal flap inside the V part of where the 2 pipes from the exhaust manifolds meet near cat. converter.

First post! Yeh I got this problem on my TJ02 Exec, but they told me that warranty wouldn't cover it... got a service coming up next month, maybe I can ask them again.

Had the exhaust replaced from the engine pipes to the cat including flexi pipes. Didn't fix the groaning noise i have. Flexi pipe was stuffed though. I think the groaning noise around 1200rpm is internal in the motor. Here we go. $$$$
