Hi guys!

I'm new here and couldn't find too much info about a hunting idle problem.
I have recently purchased a 1995 TS magna V6 exec, auto. I had no issues with it til the other day when it sounded as if my car was going to stall at the lights after coming to a stop. When idling it sits at about 5000RPM, this is quite low, isn't it? When taking off it felt as though my fuel injectors needed cleaning. But because this was happening with the occasional hunting idle, I'm guessing I need to clean the throttle body?

I'm not a mechanically minded lady, so any help will be very much appreciated!
Thanks guys!

Maybe the ISC motor, not sure about the v6. The 4cyl has one and its a common problem.

Was thinking that or maybe even the O2 sensor if that doesn't work. Might just give the throttle body a clean, it won't hurt, then if that fails try replacing the ISC motor.

500rpm isn't all that bad, the manual says it should be at 700 ±50. Tuning up the idle would make sure it doesn't stall.

It shudders at the lights an occasionally stalls, especially when I'm rolling backwards. You have replied on my other post about resetting my ECU.

the idle is controlled automatically at 700 - 750 ±50 should say it under the bonnet

I remember when I was an apprentice if an engine was missing or had a flat spot off idle then the problem must be the carby.
And I did it too.
It seems the modern day meme is , it must be the throttle body.

When you post of probs with your car you need to supply relevant information.
Like:
How many Kms on the clock?
Does it blow a bit of blue smoke in the morning on start up?
Is it a strong engine up hills?
Now it may be any of the solutions posted but generally, the more info you can supply the more easier it is to diagnose.
Cheers.

the TS V6 dosen't have carby only the 4cyl did and they were only in the TR model if im correct
my old TS V6 SE had the same problem turned out to be that one of my spark plugs had exploded, so if the car has a miss lift up the bonnet at night start the engine and listen around to the spark plugs for ticking noise if it does have a tick u should be able to see a blue spark jumping out from one of the leads and at the same time you will here the revs change while its idling

Is the oil light coming on? If not, this won't apply..

I found in mine, with the rough idle, it was related to the oil being too thick. After switching to 15W it cleared up, I can only assume the previous owner or dealer I got mine from put 20W or above in.

I'll have to replace some spark plugs and change my oil and filter. :) I reset my ECU whilst changing my cluster lights, I've had it sitting while driving my bubble around. Seemed to fix it, but will look at replacing the ISC motor, too.

If my car was struggling up hills, I'd state that, if it blew blue smoke, I'd state that.
