Hi Guys

My car is filled up with stone chips and scratches. im over it. i love to keep my car clean and tidy. all this is from previous owners. I thought about getting it resprayed but everyone is asking too much around 4-6K to get the whole car resprayed.

recently i have been seeing lots of cars out on the street with vinyl wraps.

Any suggestions/ recommendations pls feel free..

this is how my car looks at the moment. wheels are ONIX metallic black with rainbow chips. Car is champagne Gold in colour.

Have you considered getting the front-end resprayed (to remove the stonechips) and a proper detail all over? Would be a more cost efficient outcome than a full respray.

The other thing you need to consider is that a full body vinyl wrap done professionally is going to cost you $3-4k anyway....

I have just last weekend attempted to wrap just my roof in Matte black wrap. I attempted to do it on my own and I only managed to do the part between the windscreen and sunroof before it went all wrong. Ended up in 1/2 of the wrap was utterly unusable . I took what was left and tried to wrap the part of the front bumper between the fog lights and it turned out utter crap (I'm pretty picky). I ended my weekend having no wrap on the car, and had spent about $50 for a sheet that was the size of the roof. I'm now going to organize with my wife's nephew who does this type of thing for living to get me some gloss black wrap and ask him for a helping hand. My advice, the vinyl wrapping looks really cool but you are going to need at least 1 other person to help. I've done interior parts in a carbon wrap before which turned out great. I thought how hard can it be to do the outside of the car. I watched some youtube vids, brought the wrap, got hold of a heat gun and some other bits and pieces and it was so frustrating to do, or at least by myself.

Could you try Plasti dip? supposed to be good for wheels too, they also do clears which can apparently be used like a spray on "car-bra"

I am planning to get it done professionally otherwise I know I will end up with waste of time and a messy job. Yea I know it can cost me around 3-4k. but is it worth it? OR does any one knows a panel beater who can do up my car for a lesser budget. sme tiny dints and a whole makeover. Would love to see some figures approx if possible because I have not done any homework on car respray..

Cashed up car collectors don't drive their cars, instead they store their priced possessions in air conditioned rather plush garages. It's the only way to keep a new car looking new.

The rest of us, just let our cars age. Stone chips etc are par for the course. Live with it. If stone chips annoy you, wait until you get a decent scratch or do a proper Lara. (As in Lara Bingle, also known as a "prang". lol)

I considered this also, just for my bonnet, as I also have a heap of stone chips just near the front (and my car is black anyway).

I had my bonnet resprayed for $350 after getting a massive stonechip right on the front while behind a truck
If you have the cash and its not insurance claim you can get good deals from sprayshops

You would still need to get the dints taken out if you got the car vinyl wrapped.

What did you think of my suggestion? You could go for a paintless dent removal for any dents, respray the front end, and detail the rest. Would be at least half the cost of vinyl wrapping...

I love my vinyl wrapped roof. Was a PITA doing it on the street with a slight breeze but sure looks good now its done. Its been 1 year since I did it and it still looks great. I will redo it next year maybe with a gloss black.

Yes, i'd be interested in this too!
I'm waiting for them to reply to my email/fix their 10% off offer on their website.
It's a shame they changed from their original plan - the water based solution and the Wagner spray gun.... I feel a little suss now that the price they're offering it has dropped, and they're using a solvent-based (I think) and a cheapie Ozito Bunnings spray gun....
