Hey guys,
I'm looking into buying a 2005 380 DB GT. It is fitted with LPG.

I have been reading on the forums about compatibility issues with the GT/VRX (except for series III).

What I want to know, are there valid incompatibility issues and should I steer clear of this car?

I read this on the forum: ".............fitted with an E41 option engine, or an E42 option engine with an N01 option, may be fitted with LPG fuel conversion. E42 option engines without an N01 option are NOT suitable for fitment of an LPG fuel conversion"

Where could I find this info on the car when I go to inspect it?

Thanks. Joe.

Options fitted by the factory show up on the plate on the bulkhead next to the compliance plate.

Also remember gas tanks need to be checked by a pro fitter for safety every 10 years. A future cost with this car.

If it all checks out and the car drives well on gas, there is no reason not to buy it.

Also worth while checking when the cam belt is due, or if it has been done, depending on Km. On a time basis, it should have been done in 2010.

Thanks Madmax. Apparently the LPG has just been serviced.

I'm more concerned about long term with the different stem valves in the early vs late models.

Look near the dipstick, if there are a set of 3 drilled holes on the head then it is LPG compatible.
If just one then not.

Thanks qclub. Will I be able to see these if LPG is already fitted?

Bad news - non-compatible engine.
Is this the impco system though?

up to you. my series 1 380GT isn't LPG compatible n runs a stefanelli system n other than the faults from being out of tune n bad 02 sensors she runs sweet. mine needs a new filter and tune up n it'll be 100% again. a non compatible engine can run a really long time before any issues arise

nah that's a BRC brand

The factory approved system, put together by Impco here is a Seqent 56 / BRC system

Is it liquid injected?

Not liquid, but sequential vapour injection using one injector per cylinder

Lets be realistic here, many of the 380's out there which have the "non Compatable" LPG motor fitted are still running well 200k down the track with LPG, these are very good motors and will cope with LPG no worries
