Hey dudes. First post on forum and want to say G'day to you all.
I'm a retired mechanic on a Disability pension.
In my working life I specialized on Euro and high end UK cars.

My last car is a '71 VW beetle. A few mods and a great car.

I've just bought a TR sedan for a very cheap price and decided to join the forum because it might help me to get 2nd opinions for the things that keep cropping up from the experienced guys here.

There are a few things that need attention but at the moment , with a little nursing I can delay repairs to when I can afford it.

For background, I started my apprenticeship at Lanock Motors in 1969.
I went into the Army a year later as a hedge to going to Vietnam.
Wasn't all that interested in the shooting thing.
I worked my way up to the high end because thats where the money is and the passion for old cars.
Maybe I'll tell you about the old Mercs and Bugatti some day.
Anyway here I am.
Cheers Col.

Hi and welcome.
I hope you enjoy the ownership of the car :)

Thanks Spetz.

I serviced Series 1 magna's in the early '90 when I worked contract maintaining fleet cars.
I remember a few cars that had stretched throttle cables... the drivers were so happy with the service.
Given previously they were only getting less than half throttle.

Anyway I find it to be a nice driving car. Definitely a step up in comfort. Not too impressed with the pwr steering. Not enough feel.

Col.

Any reason for going the 2nd gen rather than the 3rd gen? I think they were a considerable improvement
