Magna TJ executive auto..

Other day when I was at the lights it started missing quite a lot near idle and had no balls when putting the foot down, it was also blowing quite a bit of smoke. I got it home and left it overnight. Next day I got in to go to work and made it maybe 300m down the road before it just stalled and cut out, I got it towed home and started having a look today.
I thought maybe the spark plugs so I checked the front 3 leads as I don't have a plug socket and 2/3 had oil on them (can't get to back 3 due to inlet manifold).
So, after a bit of research it looks like it could be valve cover gasket? I'm considering getting rid of the car soon so is it worth spending money on fixing?
edit: There's quite a lot of oil on the engine also and has had some trouble with oil leaks (uses quite a bit of oil)

Any and all help appreciated,
Cheers

Who would buy it in the condition it is in? Unless you want $300 for it from a wrecker, it needs fixing.

That was the idea.

I'm pretty hopeless with mechanical things, but replacing a valve cover gasket is really easy. The front bank is obviously easier than the rear, but the rear is still a simple job. The valve cover gaskets are only about $22 each from Repco. If you change the rear bank you will need a new plenum gasket as well.
