hi guys

My magna TJ has been having a lot of issues that quite a few other people seem to be having, I've read up on other posts here and on this website http://martybugs.net/articles/magna-stall.cgi
last night i tried to do what that guy said and unplugging my BEM sockets but I wasn't able to get them out, is there a special way i need to do it? as far as im lead to believe it should be easy. but for the life of me i wasn't able to get them to come out and i didn't want to resort to something like pliers because i didn't want to accidentally destroy the plastic connectors. I understand that i need to press in the button things on the underside of the connectors but they didnt budge even when i was holding them in

thanks guys

I'd like to know the same thing. Just yesterday I used moderate force to see if I could remove the connector (in the event that the car refuses to start some time in the future). No sign of movement. I've identified the connector relating to the immobiliser as being the one to the side of the car.

While we're at it, any tips on removing the ECU - in case Josh or I decide to send it to MitsFix to have the immobiliser by-passed?

Just about every single connector on the Magna has some sort of locking device, problem is they are all different. Some need a part of the plastic pushing in or squeezing from the sides, others need some part of the plastic prying up before they move. Some are locked with wire that needs lifting up. So have a good look at the connector, and sus it out. Don't use force until you are sure the lock has been disengaged. And don't pull on the wires themselves as you can end up pulling them right out the plug or socket.
A closeup picture would help tremendously. If you are really desperate, a quick trip to the wreckers with snips, pull the offending plug/socket right of a wreck by cutting the wires, and have a really good look as to how it is locked.
