Hey guys, I've recently noticed that my low oil light does not come on at all when starting up my car (TH exec). I've replaced the bulb an even the centre display and it still does not come on. Has anyone had this occur, and what steps can I try?
Cheers

My car doesn't do it either. Drat! I guess I will just have to use the dipstick instead.
On the other hand, the oil PRESSURE light works fine. Check the wiring, it may be disconnected, or the pressure sender may be defective.

You know what I mean....
I did quickly check under the vehicle and located the pressure switch and the wire. As far as I can see, it looks fine. Sprayed some degreaser and contact cleaner in the area and on the connector, tried and still no change. Suspect its a stuffed pressure sender. If it's not grounding (as I'm going by the WS manual here) it won't come on. And going by the manual, it grounds when there's no oil.
In order to change the low pressure switch, will I have to drain the engine oil? Or can I just unbolt it and bolt the new one on.

The switch is above the level of the sump so you won't need to drain the oil to change it.

Just ground the wire and see if the light comes on?

I have done that, the light came on fine. Even unscrewed the terminal off the end of the switch and sprayed the whole area with contact cleaner.
Looks like I'm gonna be changing the switch tomorrow. Since the switch is indeed above the sump, is it likely that only a bit of oil will drain out or is it likely to be essentially dry (I'm aware it could drip etc I just need to know if I need a pan handy) oil level is around half way between min and max.
Since I'm going to be In the general area, is there anything I should inspect or replace on the vehicle, related or non related to the oil switch.
And also, what is the best location to try for a pressure switch? I work 9-530 so i only have a lunch hour to source and buy it from. Genuine mits from the parts counter, vs going to repco/bursons/autobarn/sca, any difference?
