Gday everyone
havn't been on for a while since the cars been idle and stupid me, this shouldve been the first place to try.
The TW was having serious gearbox issues, having trouble going into gear and clunking badly once in. I know on cold days it would take a couple of minutes to go into reverse or drive once i'd select it.
Now it's been sitting idle for a few months now i remember driving to the hospital and whilst driving the car literally slowed itself almost to a dead stop. (whilst in traffic mind you)
Had 1 guy in Holden Hill check it @ SA Race Transmissions and after an hour decided it needed a changover trans which would cost anywhere in the vicinity of $2500 - $4000 roughly. He did refer me to someone else in Salisbury who i would have to tow the car to anyway just to get a look at. Towing would cost about $60 both ways i think. But may be the option to actually know for certain what the problem is.
Any thoughts?

Source a transmission from a low km wreck from a junkyard and have it installed?
I'd expect this to come up to about $1,000 give or take

i believe tl/tw should fit, if your going to go manual, you will need a manual box from a tl/tw, for the manual you can use a th/tj but the vehicle speed sensor is different, if your handy with electrics, I believe it can be done by finding the speedo wires and patching in to the earlier speed sensor. don't quote me on that though, ive never done a manual conversion on anything more then a tj

TL transmission fits from what I've read on the forums, but I also have read that the TW had the upgraded wave spring (a small part prone to failure) so this is what I would be aiming for

If 4 speed, any box from a tl/tw es or ls will fit.
