I have an amp that I want to discretely install into the car.
It seems the only place I can get away with making it invisible is under one of the front seats.

Does it make a difference which side I put it?
My drivers seat is electric, my passenger seat has that map tray which I would rather not lose.

My questions:
1. Is there any other place I can mount the amp? It's fairly small, and being invisible is a priority.
2. Which seat has more space under it, electric drivers or manual passenger?
3. Can the map tray from the passenger side be moved to the drivers side?
4. With the amp under the seat, can I ground it on one of the bolts that hold the seat rails onto the chassis?

1) Inside the spare wheel.

2) Manual passenger

3) Not too sure, id imagine clearance would be an issue with it.

4) Yes.

I don't think the amp is small enough to fit inside the spare wheel. Wouldn't it overheat in there anyway?

Can I mount it upside down on the parcel shelf?
The amp is an HDP5 Hertz and from reviews I read it doesn't get hot, so maybe it'll be ok?

Not if done properly and with a little bit of care.

That amp should be alright upside down, if you drive it extremely hard, and have the gains set high it will overheat regardless of where you have it, just putting it upside will speed it up.

Mounting the amps on the parcel shelf upside down is what i have in mind also, as under the seats is a pita to access once they are installed for troubleshooting and are exposed to coffee spills etc etc

I'm thinking of mounting some 10mm mdf to the parcel tray then mount the amps to that to maximise the stealth factor and also take up less room in the boot.

Regardless of what you are doing you should not be mounting any amps directly to metal, a board of MDF/PLY should separate the two.

I sold my verada sedan and bought a wagon (the wagon is a much better car, and is great for home renovations lugging crap around in etc the verada was a ticking time bomb!)

So may I ask where's the best spot to mount the amps in a wagon?

I don't want them mounted on the back of the rear seat (as i've seen in other wagon installs) as i quite often fold the seat down and use the cargo space, so i was thinking of mounting the mono block amp to the sub box, and the 4 channel amp under the passenger seat?

Also I'm guessing the oem 6x9's aren't worth replacing in a wagon with a sub, so should i just bridge the amp to give the morel maximo's more power?

Cheers :)

In previous cars i have simply mounted them to the back of the back seat in the boot.

Ive mounted a focal iBus2.0 underneath my drivers seat. 02 TJ VRX

Its an 8 inch sub with 2 channel amp built in. Not cheap but awesome product. Runs my front splits nicely

You can buy cheap versions of them. Get what you pay for tho.

Cranks pretty well. It's only an 8inch as I said but I think it's quite adequate
