Hi, iv had a problem with my th wagon for quite sometime, the trip computer range to empty reads correct, fuel total dosen't it at one stage it reckoned I had 121L in the tank and the fuel gauge in the cluster is inaccurate, if recently sent it in for the fuel sender recall thinking it would sort the problem but it didn't, iv also reset the computer setting for W = Wagon and 3.5L for engine as it should be but no change, if also reset the trip computer multiple times but still the same thing, any help would be greatly appreciated. Can take pictures if it helps

pretty sure fuel total on the trip meter doesn't display fuel that's currently in the tank. it shows fuel that's been used (measurement made from injector pulses, not volumetric measuring). resetting the trip meter every time you fill up will give you a more accurate reading.

I thought it displayed how much fuel is in the tank not a total of what is used, because I fill up full tank each time which the tank holds 71L but the gauge always creeps up to the 100L+ mark before I'm even at a quarter left when I get roughly 600-650kms per tank and I average 12L/100kms

As said it shows the fuel that the car has used, not remaining in the tank.
The fuel gauge shows how much fuel is remaining.

You can zero the fuel used by holding the mode button
