Hey all,
I have an issue with the immobiliser, Mitsubishi said it was the light ring/radio antennae round the ignition barrel. So sometimes it just doesn't start, they said it was the connection so I've been thinking of cutting out the connector and soldering the wires.
The car wouldn't start again today I unplugged the connector to the light ring and it didn't work. After unplugging the receiver, fiddling with the ecu wiring and nothing made a difference. Tried to start after fiddling with each connector.
Then in a last attempt before getting another tow was to try the antennae again. Unplugged it then reconnected and BAM that little CEL light went out and she started. Woohoo!
So my questions are
Would the antennae have a problem inside it. Or could it just be the wiring? ( I was under the impression that they should either work or not at all)
Can I just get the antennae from a wrecker and swap them over?
Mitsubishi quoted $1300 installed for whole new immobilisor with keys. Which they told me 100% will fix my problem. $1000 worth of parts.
Has anyone installed all the genuine parts before to solve there problem?
Is it easily done by myself with a good understanding of car electrics?
It's a 97 tf
Cheers,
Dayne
