Just bought a 1998 verada that doesn't have leather interior. Looking at buying the leather on ebay i.e.

The question is have the seats changed up to 2002?
Thanks

They are the same, till the T/KL, where they had a redesign and have airbags

the front covers were designed for power seats, which have a wider base than non powered seats and will need to be modified slightly for them to fit properly.

They would fit fine on KJ2 Xi seats which are both electric?

Which are you talking about? the 2003+ onwards are wider and thus not compatible, or somewhere between 98-02 they got wider?
Mine does not have electric seats, all manual controls

I have fitted these to my old Verada.
They are from the American Diamante version of the Verada. So they will fit any Verada chair, but you will have to be crafty fitting them to a manual seat. Stretching the material so the plastic shroud for the handle covers a hole for the power seat switch is the go.
best to fit them to an electric chair however, the drivers seat is fine no dramas. The passenger seat has a wider additional hole for the USA drivers seat switch which contained a lumbar adjustment button. I actually retrofitted this to my car also.
You will need to buy additional material from a trimmer for the seat backs, door trims & console bin, but here is what it looks like fitted.

Ok i'm a bit confused. I saw a thread on this forum about a guy redoing the upholstery himself, I saw no mention of having to buy additional material? which are you talking about exactly, the entire back of the passenger and driver seats?
And you saw that drivers side should be no problem even though I have manual controls. Not sure what you mean about the passenger side, Are you saying there's hole in the leather itself which if I didn't have something covering it would be an exposed hole to the foam underneath?
I'm trying to keep costs low, approx $500 all up for everything including leather, door trim and wood door arm rests (mine are grey plastic) and do the install myself

98-02 models with electrics had wider bases than manual seats.

The hard panels on the backs of the seats (where the map pockets are) require material not supplied with the eBay leather kit. Same for the doors. The material isn't supplied.
You will have to fold and stretch down the trims for a manual seat base. As it isn't the same as an electric base. You can do it in a way to hide the switch holes in the trim. The switch holes are on the side where the switches are. The passenger seat trim has a larger hole than the drivers side, because the trims are for the Left hand drive cars, and they get a bigger switch on that seat. Also there won't be holes for lumbar levers in either seat, because the Americans have electric lumbar.

In that case its probably not worth the hassle? Better off trying to find second hand leather seats and swap them if I can
I do live in a very hot climate so leather probably isn't the most practical choice anyway, but it does look good :)

Mike,
Is it possible to swap the front seat leather bases left to right, putting the original switch holes on the opposite side (ie, the holes will now be facing the armrest/center console) which won't be visible, and then making new holes as necessary?

Nah that isn't possible.
