So I recently bypassed the heater-core of my 2000 TH Auto Sedan after putting it off for 6 weeks (and topping up the radiator every morning). Upon ripping up the carpet, the under-felt was totally saturated on the passenger side front & back and most of the driver's side. Under-felt in the bin, carpet thoroughly cleaned & dried and back in the car.

When I went to drive the car, I selected reverse and....pause....then....clunk. Same when selecting drive. Off the mark the auto seems to be slipping - less so when going 30km/h+
Also, the "N" on the dash is flashing once per second - a warning/error code I assume.
Strangely, the second time I drove it hours later, the 'box was fine - more responsive than before if anything.

Now it is back to pause/clunk/slip etc.

I suspect that this could be from a sensor getting coolant on it as it happened immediately after I cleaned up the footwells (although I don't recall any going through any holes in the floor.)

Has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, what was/is involved in replacing/repairing/drying out the sensor as I would rather fix it myself.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Sounds like the tranny oil level is low.

Trans oil expands as it gets hot which might explain why the drive came good.
Check the oil level as per the service book.

The "sensor" you refer to is the ECU. It's wet.
Do a search.

Thanks for narrowing it down, Mad Max. Cheers.

Remove ecu plugs dry and clean them and should solve provided ecu is not damaged
