View Full Version : Excessive Road Noise?

Hi guys,

Can anyone comment on how the Bridgestone ER30 tires are? I believe they are OEM equipment on the 3rd gen.

I feel my road noise is excessive. On smooth roads it's nice and quiet, however on those rough bitumen roads (which seem to be most of them) it's annoyingly loud.

Has anyone any experience with the ER30 compared to another tire that makes less noise?

Hey mate.

The ER30 is a quiet tyre. Not sure of they sell them anymore. I think they are now the ER300 which is also a good quality quiet tyre.
You will not do much better than them for noise reduction and comfort. Are all your pressures right?

I thought these (as well as the ER300) were notoriously loud?
I had a Mazda 3 with OEM ER300 tires and they became loud and rough. When I installed Michellin PS3s' the ride became quieter, smoother and softer.

I know Bridgestone market this as a super quiet tire but in my car on rough bitumen they are surprisingly loud. I have my tire pressures are 32psi front and 29psi rear when cold, which is slightly higher than the placard states.

Check the age and tread on the tyres. They can get noisy if they are old or near the end of tread life.

Yeah they are nearing the end of their tread life (only about 3-4mm left before the treadwear indicator).
But the age is fine, 3 are from 09 and one from 06

I have tried many varieties of tyres on verada's, the er30 are up there with the quietest I've had. Sure there may be quieter out there but the Bridgestones are pretty good. Most people run pressures at around 36 front and 34 rear for standard tyres. Gives you better handling and tyre life.

I may add more pressure as I am running 32psi and 29psi if I remember right.

To be honest I read poor reviews for the ER30, and I've also had ER300 which were very loud compared the the PS3 (ER300 and Pilot Sports 3 were on the same car so good comparison)
