View Full Version : Removing Center Console

I am installing RCA cables into the car, and I want to run them down the middle (ie, where the gear shifter is) towards the back.
I realize it'd be far easier to run them down the side but the cables aren't long enough (3.6 meters).
In retrospect I should have bought longer cables.
Can someone tell me what would be my easiest way to run the RCA cables?
Can the carpet be removed with the center console part still in place?
If not, how can I remove all/most of the center console to be able to neatly run the cables?
Thanks

If you are running Power & Rca wires they should be run on the opposite sides of the car or you will get buzzing in the speakers.

easiest thing to do in your situation is to just remove the passenger and rear seats and thread it through.
If you already have the upper gear selector off and removed the rear bin ,there is no real need to remove the whole console.
Gee,its lie only about 60cm of carpet behind the console you have to thread it through ...use a coat hanger from the rear and push fwd ,tie cables to hanger and pull back.

Yes the power cable already runs on the far passenger side.
Maggie, I attempted removing the bin part of the center console only but it is clipped into the forward part and I didn't know how to unclip it in fear of breaking something

I done mine over 5 years ago now. From what I can remember I took the plastic section with the cup holders off and run the cables under there. The storage bin in the center console will lift out and you can see the body and carpet. Just remove the back seat, lift the carpet up a bit and you should be able to slide the cable under the carpet.
The cup holder section will lift up from the coin tray end.

lift the lid on the bin..and just grasp it and pull it out....its not really held in by anything as such

I ended up leaving the center console in place and just pulling out the carpet from under it, running the wires, and then pushing the carpet back in
