the p/s leaks on my TW. Is this stuff any good?
Yeah, I know it's not a big investment, but it'd be nice to know if it's worked for others.
thanks

Yeh mine leaks on my TF. Not bad but a little frustrating.
Ive used Nulon power steering stop leak with no success.
Just purchased the Lucas stop leak to see how that goes.

I used the stop leak formula from Nulon to, it did not work, must be for real miniature leaks.

Most stop leak products work by swelling up seals somewhat. If your leak is from elsewhere, they won't do anything.

Also I read that they only work on the older style of seals

Also depends on where the leak is from. If its leaking from a hose, its unlikely to stem the leak. If its within the pump or rack its possible that it could have some effect.

Stop leak is a waste of time and money, a seal is worn and is leaking there is no way stop leak can fix that
If the seal had gone hard (not really going to happen on a TW) then perhaps may soften it a little but still the issue is the seal is defective and needs to be replaced

Hi Mal,
so can these seals be replaced separately? Pedders told me that the only option is to replace the whole rack, $700. This seems like a lot when the steering works fine as long as it's topped up. it takes less than 500ml per year.

Pedders wants to do a quick in-out job, so replacing the whole rack without even looking for any problems is their "only option". Nothing to stop you from pulling the rack out yourself, and finding a shop that will recondition yours, though. Should be cheaper, but your car will be off the road for a few days.

OK, thanks, does anyone have any suggestions for shops in Adelaide that will recondition a rack?

Mines got a pretty bad leak as well and is making a mess in my driveway. Need to get a new rack soon. Is it a big job as i've never done one before.

Fun job. There is a write up on here. Have a search... Also it's recommended to get a TL/TW rack for better feel. Also it wasn't noted on the write up I read, I had to use the old hose as the new one had a different fitting on the top. Good luck
