Hi everyone,

My Ke (1997 model, 200,000k's, 4sp auto) has an issue when accelerating/braking.

if i accelerate from a standstill after braking, i hear several clunking noises, the harder i accelerate the louder they are. the same issue when i brake. however, if i roll to a stop in neutral after accelerating, then accelerate again, there is not noise.

It is obvious that its something in the front end.

i have inspected the control arm bushes and wheel bearing, they all look/feel ok. i have swapped the struts from another magna (the doesn't clunck) and the noises are still there.

anyone had this issue before? its just a daily so i am trying to get out of it as cheap as possible.

Cheers, Tom

Is it your CV shafts by any chance?
I think you test these by going to a car park, going full lock and then pressing throttle while simultaneously brakes and going in a circle

This is a long shot and just a check.
Have you tried tightening the eng mounts?

I've encountered that one before, top mount was slightly loose.

I assume the axle nuts are torqued and pinned.

CV's usually start clicking on corners as in U turns before they click in a straight line.
