just venting, I brought some front konis the other week took them to my mechanic to install them, he had to put them in the old strut assembly as I wasn't confident, got them back installed the whole strut in my car, shocks were great for two week then I started to get a bad clunk every time I was braking and driving at slow speeds, took it to fulcrum and one shock was weeping from the bottom, the other has completely lost all oil and has seized, they told me they were installed incorrectly.

rang my mechanic he told me that as far as they knew they did it correctly, they have been good about it so far, he's told me to bring the struts back down so they can assesse them, fingers crossed a solution can be found, just bummed that after two weeks my expensive shocks are ruined

Not good. Hope you get it sorted and the mechanic admits if they made an error.

That sucks man, let us know how you go, if the mechanics wipe their hands with them, get them to write a report and see that back to where you bought the Koni's from.

In my opinion, Konis are the best shocks you can buy. I had a pair on my car in 1966, and about 15 years later, one developed a leak. I sent it to the agents in Sydney and they repaired the seal for a minscule amount (only $3.60 from memory, including postage). Reeset the other shockie and both were perfect. I have been using Konis ever since on my cars when needed to replace them. Frightening how much they cost now.

Knowing what little I know about the later Konis, I would be surprised if the mechanic stuffed up the installation. It is a case of strip out the old shocker and install the new one. I would say that the Konis were faulty in this case. Hopefully they will replace with no hassles.

yer when i pulled them out lastnight its hard to see how they would have installed them incorrectly, id say they have been sitting on the shelf for ages and the seals have probably hardened, for the week they were working, they were an amazing shock very firm but comfortable at the same time
