I have a 2004 TW VRX AWD and the rear brake light that sticks to the glass keeps falling down on one side no matter what I do... I've taken it to two places to have them glue it back up. The first place failed completely and the second it stayed up for a few months until it started getting hot again and down it fell again. I think this might be a common problem... Any ideas??

I had the same problem with mine 04 TL VRX AWD. Southside Mitsubishi here in SA (no longer trading), stuck mine back up with a sikaflex product, held it in place with a piece of wood for a few hours until it cured. It's been good now for at least 5 years.

craig - Do you know which Sikaflex product they used? I rang Pickerings (dealer in Townsville) and they said that they can repair it using Sikaflex but they want $160.00 to do the job. Ouch!!!

Sikaflex worked for me. (TJ sedan) - came in a smallish tube -not the large cartridge for windscreens - from a car parts shop.

Got a local windscreen mob that will squeeze some out for you?? lol

Need a coke bottle or stick to wedge it against the screen and keep it up for a day or two.

Cleans off screen/hands with mineral turps.

ebmp19 - sorry mate don't recall which sikaflex product they used.

But as MadMax stated make sure everything is clean. I recall the Mits dealership using 2 pieces of timber, 1 across the top of the back seat and another wedged between the brake light and the other piece of timber. Obviously don't wedge it too hard or you may damage the rear windscreen.

Another option is getting a parcel shelf from a TE/TF and using the brake light at the back of the parcel shelf

Not really as these did not come in a black shelf like the VRX

Large empty coke bottle wedged between the rear seat top and the brake light works a treat.
Looks silly, but works well. lol (unless you have headrests of course.)

I used Permatex Black silicone. Has been up for almost 2 years. What ever the OEM installer used was clear and no where near enough and as I park in full sun, mine came off one summer. Permatex Black is meant for high temp use. Better to take the whole thing off and apply it to both tabs. Also, apply to the tabs when they are clipped on to the unit and then fit the whole unit, using it for alignment, unless you have it marked where the tabs go. I find it easier to do the former which means you can use a broom to prop it up. I did mine over the weekend when I did not have to drive it.

Loctite 406 - like 4 years and counting...

Also great for sticking coins to the concrete in a busy thoroughfare... lol
