Greetings to all,
I have a couple of niggles I would like your input on...(2001 KJ)

1) Gear indicator (on instrument cluster) light and trip computer appear to be hooked up ar$e about...as they get brighter (not dimmer) when headlights are turned on....any ideas? (no I haven't fiddled with anything...am new owner of the vehicle...who knows what previous tenant did!)

2) Thank you to Mad Magna et al regarding info about gearbox flush benefits....took the advise and got mine done...what came out of my gearbox was nothing short of molasses, and now at least I have some confidence in my machine...

3) Is a throttle body clean a must do, or a nice to do, seriously...? I have some time on my hands (recently lost job) and wanted to know if its really worth it. (Im in no way mechanically minded!)

4) Engine coolant...mine has the green stuff (as opposed to the recommended red stuff) and it appears to be separating....there appears to be small green granules floating in the radiator.....sort of like when you put cream in coffee...it appears the radiator coolant is splitting....is this an issue, or should I just drop out the fluid anyway (unknown how old it is!)

Thank you to all for your responses, in advance.

Coolant - change it, one of the first things I do when I buy second hand.

Throttle body only needs doing if you have idle issues, ie rough idle

The genuine Mits coolant is green, i'd be getting it fully flushed with that.

Radiator flush done...thanks re throttle body clean.....anyone have an idea re trip computer lighting? Anyone with a wiring diagram showing where the sense wires are?
Again many thanks.

Would not waste my money on Mits Coolant. You are buying a bottle of 66% water

Get some Nulon Green, flsuh the system and make sure the block is cleaned out and then use the Nulon

TB clean is also recommended if dirty, no harm in preventative maintenance

Found the wiring diagnoses manual, and have fixed the trip computer issue.:facejump:

The link to the manual is here...
http://122.148.77.132/4gt-manuals/Mitsubishi%20Magna%20&%20Verada%20Service%20Manual%20(includes%20Ralliar t%20Ed)/THKHMAN/9954/9954P333.PDF

This has the complete wiring loom system diagnoses flowcaharts !
(you have to scroll through about 15 pages to get it, but it is very informative about what every wire on the ship actually does and how to isolate and rectify the fault)

May be very helpful to others...as it was to me.
Thanks to all for your helpful responses.
