Greetings

I recently got myself a 2002 sports

love the car but it has a few little problems

1. i can only put in about 12L of fuel max, dad said its cuz the baffle has moved?

2. drivers window was slipping and now jammed, a mate said its the front rail or would it be something worse?
3. whinging/exhaust rattle at 1-2k rpm

any help will be appreciated

peace

Wow how many times you put fuel in a week?
With your exhaust rattle just get underneath your magna give the muffler and the cat a shake. If it rattles, replace.

I'd get the car to a mechanic or even auto elec asap for the fuel tank issue.

The window .... take the door card off and have a look.

The rattle .... as already suggested.

I had the same with the window on my 2003 TJ.
The power window mechanism has a cable that winds on a wheel. The plastic wheel had deteriorated, broken and then chewed up the cable.
Needed a new mechanism (regulator) but I just grabbed one from the wreckers for $50 and replaced it myself. The job is a little tricky, the whole window has to come out.

Window does not have to come out, have someone hold the window up if you must to make it easier but is a quite simply replacement

Are you sure you can only put in 12L of fuel? In other words, are you sure its actually empty (or very low) before filling (don't trust the gauge, it can lie) and are you sure it's actually full when you think it is (again, don't trust the gauge and if the fuel is up the filler pipe wait a bit to see if it 'burps' and flows down). It's a kinda weird issue for the tank to lose 80% of it's capacity, more likely the gauge is reading incorrectly if that's what you are going by.

Yea the fuel has me stumped too, if you have the filler in as far as it goes while filling up the petrol normally splahes back into the filler and stop it from filling, you pull it out a little then continue to fill it up.

The gauges can also be quite wrong, when you are below approx 10l's does the orange fuel light come on?

perhaps the sender unit in the fuel tank has died. when mine went, i would fill the tank and after going through around 10-15 litres of fuel, the tank would read empty. it is an easy fix and can be obtained from any wreckers or even new.

yo

well im running the tank dry as suggested

ive taken off the door trim to look at the window as it jammed yesterday, cant see where the issue is, leaving it off till the window is sorted and ive put my new speakers in lol

Whoa dude, not suggesting you run it dry, that is generally bad. Better to drain it than run sludge through your injectors.

well i put 300Ks on it and decided to refuel for that very reason lol

found and fixed the window issue, tight spot at the top of the stroke caused the motors gearbox to self destruct :/

and the exhaust noise seems to have disappeared magically lol

How many litres did you put in after 300km? Work out you fuel economy then you can work out roughly how many kilometres you can get out of your tank.... Does anyone know how many litres our tanks hold?

71 litres I believe, though it's probably more like 60 or 65 in real terms, avoiding the crud in the bottom. If you got 300 km's out of it then your tank capacity is greater than 12 litres... otherwise it's the most economical Magna ever made! You should be getting somewhere around 8 L/100km on the highway and between 11 and 12 mixed city/highway... if you're getting 4 then there's something very wrong with your engine... or very right!!
