ok so ive looked at about 5 moulded car carpets and everyone of them stops around 1999 on the magnas

so the question is is the 2000/01 TJ's different to the models before?

id like to get a black plush carpet for it but cant find one anywhere
ive used Knox before but they tell me they dont have one
all the others dont list a 2000/01 on their websites?

are they different????
i know mine goes up onto the front kick panels and is glued on the edge of them

help
?

also to complete it you will need to swap over the carpet on the doors as well.

Carpet from Verada's has a cutout under the seat and has a raised section in the front floor pads for the under seat/back seat heating ducts.

Magna's do not have this, so the carpet has no cutout under the seat and floor pan section is all flat.

Tl and w are different in foot rest and around rear seat

Aftermarket carpet also does not come with plastic bits down the sides to secure the carpet

But the KL/KW has vents in the back of the console rather than the floor mounted vents.

No, that's most definitely incorrect. Veradas had a cutout and raised section under the seat and in the front floor section for the under seat climate vents. I have done the swap twice. You can cut a small hole in the Magna carpet to fit the Verada vents and it will still sit, though slightly unevenly, over the vents for the front section, so it's doable, it's just not quite a perfect fit. Same deal with floor carpets too, they are not a perfect fit for Veradas as they sit slightly over these extra vents.

As Madmagna said, TL/W are different too, though I couldn't tell you how, I only have experience with up to the J's. However, OP is asking about up to KJ so L/W shouldn't be relevant.

is that just sedans ?

or are wagon and sedan carpets the same in 3rd gens as well ?

No

The sedan carpets are slightly different to wagons around the back seat

The TE to TJ sedans are the same, the TL/W sedan carpets differ in the area around the back seat as well as the foot rest

They can be interchanged (my wagon for instance has a black carpet from a TW VRX Sedan) They are a little lumpy in places but do tend to settle over time

AWD are different again

If a black VR-X carpet is used in a Verada will it sit properly where visible or will there be issues with the under seat vents that will show elsewhere?

You just cut a small flap so the vents are useable.thats what i did in the altera which has those vents. Only issues i had was where the tunnel is rear of the center console was a bit larger.

I have done exactly this man. It does get slightly lumpy in the front footwells just in front of the inside seat rail, and a floor mat will not sit 100% correctly on it. If I remember after work I will take a photo for you. It's really not that bad, you know how full on I am with my car and I like it.

A pic would be greatly appreciated.

Was there a version of the black carpet with the vent cut outs already there, or just light grey and beige?

No. No KJ or earlier Verada had black carpet, and the later model GTVi does have black carpet but doesn't have under seat vents. If you want black carpet, this is the only option. (Except aftermarket and I would avoid that before I'd avoid OEM because of the vent bulge.)

found a magna with decent black carpet at the wreckers
just filthy.. vacuumed for an hr and hey presto... looks good

grabbed the black back parcel shelf, the bottom bit of the door trims from the back that had the black carpet (swapped them over for the ones we had already covered in vinyl) and all the seat belt pillar plastics that were black, plus the rear and front stock speaker covers, plus a stock steering wheel and a tow bar tongue :)
the yellow vrx at eddywreckers is still complete
100 bucks a door trim the bloke reckons

i got the above for 130
:D
