she died. as you may remember me whining about... i dont have a licence at the moment.. so a friend of mine who is currently in the middle of an engine swap is bowwring my car and what do you know... he was driving home sunday night and the car's power was zapped by some unknown gremlin... i probably shouldnt say unknown because it has done this too me once before.

my first question is.. how long should a rebuilt 120amp ambulance alternator last in a car with a modest system. i know i'm only pulling a max of 70a through the stereo at any one time considering thats the size of the cirsuit breaker i'm using and i have to be driving it pretty hard to blow that. i would have thought that the other 50a would have been sufficiant to charge the battery and keep things running considering that i pulled an 80 out of it in the first place!

anyway i guess im having more of a whinge than anything, but i was just wondering if you folks had ever run into a similar problem and maybe its something i'm over looking.

last time this happened it seemed to go away after i cleaned the terminals on the alternator. will get out to the car and try it again and then test the alternator....

any advice would be greatful =P

try a heavy duty battery, or even a dual battery setup perhaps?

Exide Orbitals are a good battery from memory but not cheap.

sorry for the delayed reply folks but ive been asleep for 3 days... damn flu medication!

as far as a heavy duty battery setup i'm already running a 720cca delkor calcium main battery and my secondaries are all 100minute reserve capacity calcium (4x)

as for what i'm running that uses soo much power, its 2x 1200w monoblocks and a 1000w 4ch!

once i've recovered from the flu a little more i'm gunna fix it, think i know whats going on.

will let you all know when i've confirmed it.
