Hi all.

Over the following week I have had a persistent knock develop.

It sounds like knocking your knuckles on a wood table. #terribleanalogy

It occurs on the change of acceleration at low speeds.
E.g. taking off from 0km/h
E.g. taking off from ~10km/h
E.g. speeding up in first gear and letting off the accelerator pedal
and occasionally above that.

It does not occur when I "rev" the engine.

Can anyone pin-point this to a specific part?

I believe it would either be front sway bar bushes (in which case I would replace rear too)
OR
the rear engine mount perhaps? But I think that would make a noise when I "rev" the engine.

Any assistance from an informed person will be appreciated.

Thanks

Gear box mount under the air box?

Checked it out, the three mounts appears to have a good chunk of rubber around them

I had a similar noise when accelerating from the front right wheel area knocking found one of the lower bolts that holds the knuckle to the brake backing plate lose tighten it up no more knocking noise, worth a check. Have also changed the front and rear sway bar bushes as well car has done 86,000kms.

Sounds like front sway bar bushes to me.
They are notorious for wearing out quickly, especially if you have lowered springs, and setting up a 'knocking' noise.
Cheap to buy from the local stealership, around $10 each.
But not easy to DIY replace, hard to get at, best up on a hoist & with decent tools.
Might as well do the rears at the same time, they also wear out and start a 'knocking' noise.
Rears are easy to DIY.
I renewed my rear bushes four times and my front bushes three times!
Forgot to add, you need special grease for them. Copper or silver or lithium or rubber, I've used them all and all worked.
