380 fellas were talking about converting their keys to flip keys, a while back.
Anyone game to try it on their Lancer key? I'm tempted!

not sure how you would get the key blade out of the case because if memory serves me well, the blade is moulded into the plastic.
worth a try.however if you break the key it costs 250+ for the key alone

Sorry to bump the thread, but it's a bad idea. If you can guarantee not breaking the key, then go for it. But it will be too risky to justify it.

Why wouldn't you just get the key cut like a normal person would instead of destroying the old key?

Yes, just get the flipkey blade cut, then transfer the remote and immobiliser chip to the flipkey. No damage to the original key. Unless you need to dig in the plastic for the imm chip, of course.
I haven't really taken this idea any further, unfortunately.
