Does anyone know whether I will need to remove the heater core inside the car to replace the plastics tubes that sit between the core and the hoses in the engine compartment. The plastic tubes are brittle (one has broken). Apparently there are 0-rings that go on the end of the plastic tubes where they fit onto the heater core. I have ordered the plastic tubes ($31 each and there are 2) and o-rings . Here's hoping I can grip the plastic tubes without them breaking apart completely, then pull then out (working in engine compartment) and simply push new ones in with o-rings attached.

Yes you do need to remove the core and the dash board
