Picking up a code 54 on both my KH verada and my TJ theyve both been sitting for about 20 months an i'm getting no fuel injector pulse and she's winding over but just won't kick in, diagnostic gave the code 54 and i just dont see how for 2 different cars that the keys could both go just from not being used, ive done under the dash and checked from the ignition barrel the 2 wires running from there and also pulled the sockets from the back of the BEM, also tried another ECU that i have from SKR that is apparently immobiliser disable but it still refuses to work?? tried the ECU in both vehicles -.-

Any suggestions?

after the immobiliser is triggered, is it correct to say even swapping to another ECU that has the immobiliser disabled that the BEM still needs to be triggered to disable to immobiliser? in saying i will still need to get a key programmed to disable the immobiliser before i can play with the other ECU..... i hope that makes sense to someone -.-

Any loss of power, such as disconnecting the battery or unplugging the ECU, clears the immobiliser activation flag in the ECU. The BEM is just the repository of the master code; the ECU checks the master code against the code it has and if it doesn't match flags the issue.

In my experience, with an immobiliser code mismatch the engine will fire on the first start attempt before being shutdown and then not fire on subsequent start attempts (this was one of the first things I tested when I got my reflashing setup) until the ECU is reset.

The 54 code may be signalling that the ECU cannot establish communications with the BEM and thus can't check the immobiliser state, rather than an actual immobiliser code mismatch.

An ECU with the immobiliser function disabled completely ignores any code mismatch, however it still expects to be able to communicate with the BEM.

From the fact that both cars have not been run for an extended period, I would be suspicious of battery condition (even after charging) unless you have installed new batteries. Depending on conditions of storage (humidity in cabin), I might also be suspicious of corrosion on connectors - TJs seem to have somewhat of a history of BEM cabling issues.

Thank you for the clarification there and yes the batteries are good, I borrowed 2 from my friends shop while I play around trying to get them running, I'll just have to check over the connecters again and check for corrosion, we live directly across from the beach so that is a likely issue, I was told the cars were tuning till about 8 months ago when first the verada dies and followed by the tj about a month later it's just weird they both died :( and it's doing my head in trying to figure it out
