Hi Forum,

FYI my old 1999 executive 3.5 TH Wagon is going to god (or an optimistic buyer) after 360000Km, I've updated to a 2001 Sportswagon - Oh God what a difference the new car is a rocketship!

But I have question - when I put the climate control into auto mode and the A/C fan speed dwindles I get a Clack Clack Clack noise from under the dash that doesn't stop until I press the button to change the vent outlets.

I'm assuming it is a stuck, maybe stripped gear or something similar in the levers that control the vent valves - I'm going to investigate (weather permitting) this Sat - but if you have any pointers to a common cause I'd LOVE to hear from you - so will my nearly 50 year old back upside down on the floor...

Ok Have found out that the controller that moves the vents when retracted toward the rear of the car - seems to either not register as fully retracted or has another issue as the motor keeps trying to pull the levers - I'm thinking the potentiometer sensor is not reading correctly - anyone have experience with testing or aligning this?

Ok for the - So No One Had this Problem - Forum...

I unscrewed the motor unit and dis-engaged the rod to the vent controls, split in two the controller module (with quite a wrestle for all the clips that have to be released at once) noted the location of gears and cogs and cleaned the contacts on the circuit board tracks and the "cam" gear with metho - reassembled and Tah Dah - no more Click Click Click - Ahhhh Serenity

Good job on the fix I did a CC conversion but never wouldve thought this issue would rear its head.
