As per title, does the automatic shift knob from a 380 (or any other Mitsubishi) fit the 3rd gens?
Or are there any other shift knobs that do?

It should do, there are a few other shifters that fit including a vy-vz shifter which look quite nice with the manual boot cover as well

No it doesn't fit.
You can physically get it on, but the button trigger is completely different. The only way to make it work is to treat it like a manual knob and have it permanently on, which is dangerous.
VY fits, not my taste though.
A nice verada knob is quite nice.

Does the VY one knob fit and the button mechanic works?
To be honest the button thing is weird. I've always driven automatics that you need to press the brake pedal to move the knob

Putting commo parts on any Magna is just as bad as putting chev badges on a commodore.
The pressing the brake pedal to move out of park is not common, it is mainly an AWD thing on Magna's and some euro cars have the same, with all these cars however once out of part the function of the shifter and knob are basically the same, stops you accidently shifting into Reverse or Park when driving forward

I agree that using Commodore parts is like sacrilege but if they look better than the stock part I'd still consider it.
With the brake depressed or push button, with the cars that you need to press the brake pedal to shift gears they generally also need the key to be ON to allow this too. Seems a bit safer however gets annoying when you're doing something and need to shift the gears (ie, swapping head units for example)

It's called an interlock. lol
Some newer cars:
Can't take the key out of the ignition unless the car is in Park.
Can't shift out of Park unless the brake pedal is pressed.

Yes, the VY knob is a straight swap.
I had it on mine for awhile, it looked OK, but I didn't like how skinny it was.

Interlocks suck. It rose out of the need to try and protect people from their own stupidity...
Also, never understood the desire to change the auto shift knob, it's not like a manual where your always using it...
