MEOW. Lol.
Anyways, car was driving sluggishly, all of a sudden my check engine light turns on. So I didn't waste any time and got it checked. P0421 Warm Up Catalyst Below Threshold. It's in Bank 1. So, I was wondering, do you guys have a 3-cat setup there in Australia? If you do, do any of you know the Model # for the front manifold/cat combo?
Legally, I can't just throw a pair of extractors on in my state. Unless I can make the heat shield work to hide it. But even they they may know that there's supposed to be 3 cats.
But my other question related to this is, if you guys do have 3 cats, and you get a pair of extractors, how does the car respond? I'm planning on getting an OpenPort cable, since my Eclipse uses the same one, so I could possibly reflash the ecu to skip that check right?

Not in Australia, we have single cats in Magna's, believe the Diamante had the 3 cats, if you give me a body number I can check for you

Would it possibly be any of these?

Or if it helps, I can provide a VIN. Or, could check for any other code tomorrow morning in the light also. (About 10pm here, atm. :P)

You'll be able to reflash the ECU okay, but at the moment the bits for turning off various checks aren't defined in the Diamante definition files (that I've published anyway). It is quite likely that if they've been defined for the V6 Eclipse that the definitions can be updated with a bit of effort. As we don't have the OBD2 protocol emulation in the Magna/Verada ECUs, it hasn't been of much interest to me. However if you want to pursue this I'll help where I can.

Oh. Sorry I should state that I'm not too sure about the V6 Eclipse, mine Eclipse is an I4. I'm sure it is defined, people do a lot to those things too.
I'm right now thinking, I'll get the OpenPort cable and do a quick log. I believe it pulls o2 sensor voltages, so I can just hope its an o2 sensor acting up (didn't throw a code for it, but I read that sometimes it doesn't actually throw a code) I'm sure I can find the ranges, or a way to test it with my dmm on this site, I think I've seen it before.
I'd be down for it, but there's probably not enough demand for it, and doing all that work for one person isn't too much worth.

I don't think the stock Evoscan logging configuration includes all 4 oxygen sensor values - I4s only have 2 - however the extra sensor values aren't hard to add if missing. If it is throwing a catalyst error in bank 1, it would be the bank 1 rear oxygen sensor response triggering it.
The Magna/Verada ECUs won't complain about dead oxygen sensors, but I would expect Diamante ECUs to do so. My understanding at this point is that the CEL will be thrown if the sensor heater circuit goes open circuit or high impedance, or the sensor output goes outside a preset range, however the sensor may still have a problem which won't trip these checks.

Sorry it's been a while. Yesterday I did my job and everything and check engine remained on all day. Got ready for an interview and started the car up, no more CEL. I read somewhere that the code sometime shows up if you have multiple cold starts in a short amount of time. Which makes sense, it's getting colder here so it cools the motor down faster. Still interested in the logging part at least, would that be something to talk to the people who develop Evoscan about, to see if they'll do it? (If they aren't there. Either way I'm getting that cable.)
My VIN for future references just incase it does show back up.

I'll dig up the extra oxygen sensor info and post it here. Evoscan has a function for adding & editing logging parameter information which makes it easy to add. There's a discount on purchasing Evoscan if you purchase the cable from them.

Alright thank you again! Oh I didn't know that, I'll have to check that out.
It's perfect, the Eclipse just so happened to have the OpenPort useable ECU. The year before needed a 500$ (albeit more supported) program. But either way, I'll be able to tune it with the cable.
I'm thinking of getting the 2.0, even though logging is slower.

Evoscan 2.9 has standard items for "Oxygen Sensor" (request 13) and "Oxygen Sensor #2" (request 3C). These are respectively the bank 1 front and rear oxygen sensor inputs in a V6. The bank 2 sensor inputs are on request 3D (front) and 3E (rear). When adding them using the same info as the existing ones except for the request code.

Sweet! Thank you much! Sadly, a buddy backed into my car. So I'll be Diamante-less for a little. :/
