Hi All,

My mum has a KR Verada Ei, with sagged suspension. She wants me to arrange it's replacement, which I'm happy to do, but she is adament that I must replace it with softer than factory spec springs.
(She has a bad back, and does not want anything stiffer than factory).

In order to get custom made "softer springs", I need to know what the factory spec is. Then, with the factory spec known to ensure ride height is the same, I can get custom springs made here in SA at "Industrial Springs, Port Rd Hindmarsh", and tell them to make the new springs at the SAME load rating, but with an extra coil or two. Voila, softer springs thanks to the extra coil or so, but with standard ride height due to the same rating. I will then mate these custom springs to a set of Monroe "comfort shocks" (or any others if anyone has any ideas?) to ensure the soft ride.
(PS - If I need to, I may consider even raising ride height by 1inch, but I'll cross that bridge if I need to).

Now I know many people will think this is crazy, and think it will make the car unsafe. But this is an old lady in her mid 60's who'll be driving it, and the car will be taken to the scrap yard when she's finished. The goal here is to get her in a car with soft suspension, because otherwise she can't drive, her back is that bad these days. And this solution is cheaper than buying a new car.

I've rung King Springs, and Pedders, both who will sell me stiffer springs at standard height, but neither know what the factory spec is, and can't even tell me over the phone what their spec is. I also rang "Agostino Mitsubishi" here, who have been a great help in the past with my KH Verada, but unfortunately they say the KR/KS manual is not digital, therefore in storage, and therefore they can't tell me the spring load ratings for factory springs without a lot of hassle.

Does anyone have a factory manual that they can look up, to see if they can tell what the factory spring ratings/specs/loadings are? That would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows!

Cheers
Kappo

Interesting they can provide stiffer springs than standard but how could they do this without knowing what standard would be........Hmmmmm
They might in fact be softer if they do not know specs aye!!!

You don't want softer springs.

You want softer (ie more compliant) shock absorbers. On a KR, the original suspension would be worn and transmitting road irregularities into the cabin (and mummy's sitting area) hence giving her the impression the springs are too hard.

Any quality new struts on the front would make mummy happy.
