Hey guys, i have a 1999 TH Manual 3.0. i don't know why but every time i go to set the trip computer up it goes past the Sedan or wagon then the engine type but it wont let me get past the Set speed function and i've tried everything i can think of and i've tryed going past the set speed but it doesn't set the alarm off. is this a common problem? and is there a way to fix it because i need some type of fuel gauge as the gauge on the dash is broken and not in the tank for once -_-. if you guys know how i could get my trip computer functioning i would be grateful. oh and i'm knew here so be gentle lol

pretty sure that holding down both arrow buttons will disable the speed alarm. have you started the car up before trying to set everything up? depending on where you are in QLD someone might be able to give it a look, too.

Yes i have held down both buttons and it will turn it off an on but even on the trip wont set the alarm off like it hasn't activated the speed alarm. it wont go any further like to the average speed fuel consumption or anything like that just stays on "set speed -what ever speed here-". i have started the car before setting up the Trip computer mainly cause i didn't know what it was as well has haveing set it up after reconnecting the battery and not starting the car. even holding down mode button when the ignition is "OFF" and turning the key to "ACC" it cycles though sedan - 3.0Ltrr then stops on "Set Speed". but it wont do anything i don't know why. i'm on the sunny coast close ish to Maroochydore and Caloundra.

Below is a link to the wiring fault diagnosis manual for 3rd gen magnas..
If you wade through it, it does have fault isolation flowcharts for trip computer faults..
Hope it helps you..
Pages 39-63 deal with trip computer fault isolation..
Page 60 deals with your exact problem...

what about that i cant get it to display any of the other modes other than Speed alarm?? the speed alarm is the least of my worries i just need some kind of fuel gauge. i don't know if there is another thing i have to do to access the other menus. also the fuel gauge in the dash doesn't work but it has a brand new fuel sender now. mabey that is linked?.

okay going though those pages and i found something with the computer, apparently after setting the engine it should all be set. the set speed shouldn't affect the other menus but i don't know how to get to those other menus or get off the set speed setting. any idear?.

press the mode button a few times instead of holding it. see if it cycles through.
