View Full Version : Aftermarket seats
Hay guys
Just wondering wat kind of fitting prices does it cost to fit a pair off aftermarket sports seats in a 3rd gen. Wat are peoples thoughts on off the seats after fitting?
Cheers

Seeing the seatbelts are attached to the seats, any modifications to the seats - such as putting sports seats from another make or model, or aftermarket seats, may affect safety and would need an engineer's certificate to be legal.
Better off looking at the variety of seats that came with different models.

If you mean something like a recaro style seat, you will need to mod the rails and sliders to make it work.you use the factory buckle. The modded rail would require engineering

If its going into a tl or tw they will need to have airbags in them for it to work

Recaro can fit them legally to pre TL models, ie TL and TW can not be done

The standard seats in the KL are good except in one respect: they are very wide at the back without enough support and i end up twisting in the seat too often turning.

Idealseat in Melbourne are the recaro distributor and they have done a few magnas now. Approx. $700 for the baseplate and slider assembly.
They'll only fit genuine recaros or other high quality brand seats, due to the cheaper ones being very flimsy/dangerous - after sitting in both I could understand the 3-4x cost difference. I found a set of recaros second hand for $500 on ebay.
They are excellent, steering/throttle control is much easier being cocooned in without having to brace from flying out of seat , would be hard to go back to stock seats.
