Hi all, thankyou for letting me join your club. Recently I bought a '07 380 and its badged as a SX II. However it has a Sunroof and an uncommon paint colour, think its called Mint Green. SX specs dont list this colour or sunroof. The answer to the question Im seeking is exactly what varient of a 380 have I got?? Rego papers say SX..I called Mitsi and its a VRX/SX. It has the digital display on the dash where I can change settings etc, a 6 CD stacker. I would like to know if it has bluetooth? Can anyone help?? Cheers http://i43.tinypic.com/i5r668.jpg

It is indeed a SX model, a limited edition colour called "Sublime". There's a few of these around, but they are rare (someone on the forums may know how many of these were made?). Was this the one on Port Rd for sale recently with about 200K kms?

VR-Xs (and GTs) had black headlight surrounds rather than chrome.

I was under the impression that all the green 380s were SXs.

My money is it being a SX.

If it had bluetooth there would be a button for it next to your foglight switch/traction control switch.

Some further info (from earlier posts...):
The green is called "sublime". As most of us know it was a limited run for series 2 SX promoting 380 LPG. Ended up being a limited run of only 200, all with standard GT rims and sunroof, together with sublime seat trim inserts. I was hoping to see it in series 3, but apparently it wasn't very popular...

I remember seeing one that had matching colour seats and larger rims and lowered. The salesman didn't like the vrx rims so he changed it out and placed a spoiler at the back. At the time it was more expensive than the standard model.

Thanks for your replies, yes it was on Port Rd with 200k on it. It was listed for 10g but grabbed it for 8g and got the timing belt, water pump etc done by an ex mitsi mechanic. I'l have a look for the bluetooth option now that I know what to look for. The only thing annoying is a bit of front shocker rattle when its cold, else it goes ok. Seems to like its fuel though, havent done any proper calcs yet. One thing that did shock me was its low revs and its torque. As usual the roof painting/clear coat is a bit ordinary for a car its age. Ive a 96 Commodore and its doing good in comparison. Ive a crash shop quote me around $500 to respray roof and was advised to use paint protection called Fire Glaze on the rest of the car before it falls apart. In essence you get a lot of car for little $. Cheers

If you are just getting your roof repainted, consider painting it black. A couple of members have done this and it looks quite good.

Hi Red Valdez, I took the car to the crash shop today for a look, he suggested to do the boot and bonnet as well as there are small signs of them deteriorating. Maybe I cld put some Fire Blaze on them to add protection. Quoted about $1200 for the whole job. As for black....I'd like to see one first...:)
Cheers...

I will PM you the details when I can find them. they are on my office wall
I had my bonnet and boot done as well due to clearcoat failure over last 2 years
There is a thread somewhere with some pics before and after. I think the thread was paint delamination

Look up Kif380 and Foozrcool's rides. Their 380s are silver and gold respectively. They have photos in the Members Machines section.

Cheers for the pic, your white one looks nice, but we'd prefer to keep the car totally green, as we do like the colour. On a different note I thought I'd just pop the lid and check the air filter, that was entertaining:) Theres someone local that sells the 90mm intake, im not interested in the power side of things really, but will it genuinely improve fuel economy?

Yes in my case i went from high 12.8 around town to 12.1 .

Treated it to a new air filter and got excited and cleaned the whole intake inc throttle body the other week and now down to an aveerage of 11.9.

I'm not normally a fan of bright colour cars, but i like your green 380!

It's definitely unique, I have never seen one before.

I reckon it would look great with a black roof :)

I have a customer with a VRX in this colour and I also have a wrecked VRX in this colour in my workshop as well. The one I have currently is a series 2 but my customers one is a series 3 so there must have been a few to sneak through, perhaps special orders at the time

It will probably remain green, as that was one of the reaons we bought it..dozens of silver and grey ones around. Yesterday had an oppurtunity to have a drive outside city, so took it to normanville, for those who dont know the area, its pretty windy and hilly. It went really well, and I think comparable to a new Comm we drove back from Sydney to Adelaide for comfort. Not just because we bought this car but it really is a nice car to drive and a lot of car for 8g.

The 380 still holds its own against new modern Aussie cars that cost 4 times as much. I hope it stays a well kept secret, how competent they are, otherwise prices will shoot up as good ones become scarcer. I was thinking of getting one, but the wife wanted something smaller and manual that we can both drive, so we settled on a 2011 Lancer. A competent car in its own right, but not as good as a 380. At least the 7.5L/100 km around town of the Lancer compensates somewhat.

Hi Madmax, wife has the 2011 SX and auto, tis woeful off the mark being constant speed, tis much like driving a forklift!! Have no ideas about the manual. Fuel economy is good and warranty good. Took car back to get new master cyl and brake booster as there was a brake fluid leak. If you have the SX be aware theres a usb port inside the glovebox up near where the latch is.

MadMax

Why do you think we went for a manual? The auto is known to be slow to get moving.
Ours is an ES, the USB port was the first thing I looked for, and found, as was the aircon cabin filter. USB port is useful, but I looked for it for another reason - ours was built october 2011, but the USB port being present establishes it as a 2012 model, with better fuel economy that earlier models. The ES manual is the only one with electric assist power steering instead of hydraulic, which I imagine accounts for the good economy.

Did my homework, I did! lol

Anyhow, I'm jealous of your green 380. If only my wife would try to drive a bigger, automatic car! Dead set against it though. lol

The lancer we have got 15km/l on a trip through clare on open roads....which is pretty ok...We hired a new commodore omega from Sydney and drove to adelaide on 133litres...about 1550km.
The 380 is not flash around town on fuel, but semed ok on open roads...il get to do proper test one day.
