Hi,
apparently the tank ran out of fuel (running on gas all the time) and cooked the pump, sender unit & stuffed the tank.....not happy.

If anyone has a tank with the sender & pump they wish to offload, I'd be interested.

You don't need a new fuel tank - only the fuel pump and sender unit. Should be able to get one from a wreckers. Getting the fuel line off is a bit of a pain, but there is a DIY thread on this site to do it. You should probably replace the fuel filter as well (under the car this time).

Incidentally, you have now found out why they recommend keepng at least one quarter of a tank of petrol at all times. On my old Pajero, I installed a relay which isolated the petrol pump when I was on gas. This allowed me to go on petrol in remote places and go to empty, whilst using the gas as a reserve until I was able to fill again with petrol or gas.

When speaking with the auto electrician before, he said that the sendur unit & pump disintegrated and filled the tank with crap.
Apparently, you cant clean out these tanks (which I found a strange comment).
Have you or anyone here had any experience with cleaning (or non-cleaning) of the fuel tank?
