Simple question really. The AWD floor carpet needs replacing as it has a hole in it. Can I just pick up an eBay special with this, or, do I need to source an AWD carpet?

yep they are very different, i've been looking for a black one, but they seem quite rare - maybe an auto carpet supplier could do a mould?

Ask Mal: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/member.php?u=18. He probably has some.

Yup, they're definitely different.

Even the floor mats are different. I've got a set of genuine AWD mats in one car and an aftermarket set in another AWD and the genuine ones fit better (especially on the driver's one)

The aftermarket ones sit up a bit on the left as the transmission tunnel is different in the AWD to the FWD. Strange to think that such a small change could make a difference, but it does..
The AWD mats fit perfect. So, it would be the same with the carpet.

Definitely try Mal or even Tony 'Cracka' Horn from Unique Mits Bits, as I know for a fact he's wrecking a TL AWD VR-X at the moment and he's also in QLD.

+1 AWD Jr. Yeah the floorpans are different in the AWD - grafted from the Japanese spec Diamante AWD.

I've resigned myself to the fact I'll need to chase up another full carpet, or, have a new one made. Have a few other things to get out of the way before I chase carpet though.

How big is the hole? Can't be repaired?

It's about half a credit card sized. The repair job would have to be pretty convincing, quality wise, for me to take that option.

What colour do you need? I have a grey AWD carpet and grey door cards out of a 2003 TJ AWD that I replaced with a black AWD one. I have the matching grey rear parcel shelf too but its still in the car as I've been too slack to put the black one in.
A mate should be coming around to do the belt change on my TL AWD and service the TJ so I can swap the parcel shelves then too. My Dad also wants a muffler for his 2000 Verada, so I need to get motivated and dig some Magna spare bits and pieces out of my groaning shed anyway.

Its carpet for my Sports, so black is what I'm chasing. I'll keep the offer in mind though, thanks.

Carpet is on the back burner while I do registration and insurance, and my arduino shifter project.

When you're ready to get the carpet, Tony from Unique Mits Bits (Cracka Jnr) should be able to help you as he's currently wrecking a TL VR-X AWD and he's also in QLD.
