Sorry if this has been discussed before but search options on iphone app extremely limited.

Looking at towing caravan with 380. Have a 1600kg heavy duty tow bar (but not square hitch). Car has a transmission cooler.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Seems like you have it covered

Just once?
How Far?
Regularly?
How Big?
Thought about an Electric brake controller?

Looking at being maybe twice a year. Want to limit to a poptop of about 1100kg empty. Up to 600km each way. Do you need a square hitch? What is the 380 like towing a caravan? I understand I would need electric brake controller installed.

No worries at all mate, your tow bar is rated, your car is certainly heavy enough for a 1100 kg van, check the RTA to be safe as I know NSW have or had some interesting laws in relation to towing but then again I have seen many 380's towing vans and boats with no issues. You have a cooler already so you are already one step ahead of most out there

Brake controller only if the trailer has electric brakes, being 1100kg most likely cable or hydraulic so no need to fit the controller.

Thanks Mal. Was hoping not to have to change 380 over to something else. Looks like it will be fine. I've towed a boat, about 900kg total and that felt fine even though weight distribution wasn't perfect.
