Going to get oil changed on a TL magna. I can see that Penrite HPR10 is recommended extensively here - but according to the oil guide supplied by Penrite, HPR5 should be used. Link: http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/PenriteAusMobile/

Just wondering which to buy.

happy to have anyone call bullshit on my story, but having had my mechanics use HPR5 each service i found the car leaked oil a lot. even after the rocker covers were replaced it still did it. didn't usually get much more than 4,000 to 5,000 km before it was in need of a top-up. since switching to HPR10 recently during MM, the oil lasts longer and i can put the foot down without worrying if oil is pouring out onto the exhaust manifolds.

I use HPR 10 in both mine and mother in laws car, never had a problem, and since I use it in both cars, they run very well.

I must say mine has been leaking a lot faster since I put the HPR 5 in, not sure if it's coincidence or not.. but I will use HPR 10 next round and see how it goes.

It depends on engine wear. For most Magna's HPR 10 would be the most appropriate. If you can get Penrite Premium 10 at a good price that would be even better.

I found the HPR5 to be excellent in the KL AWD, no leaks and starts well from cold and seems to last well.
The cars got 55k's on it tho. I use HPR10 in the KH which has 215k's on it, but the rocker cover seals have never been done so I'm assuming the 5 would be too light for it. KH runs perfect on that.

You guys should actually fix your leak instead of trying different oil.. lol
