Hey guys, first time magna owner. I just recently had the valve cover gaskets done with the o rings and now on start up there's a little bit of smoke coming from the exhaust. Could this be related to the repair or a whole new fix? It has about 240,000km. Any help would be awesome!

Usually, smoke on start up, or upon take off after idling (such as take off from traffic lights) is caused by worn valve stem seals. The oil sits on top of the valves, and when pressurised by revs, works its way through the valve stem seals. Same deal when starting, oil sits on top, engine starts, oil works its way through.
When hot (normal temp) does it blow smoke when you take off from lights after idling?
I'm assuming its a blue tinged smoke?
Easy way to see is to stick your finger up the exhaust into the airflow (when cold, straight after starting) and see is there is any oil residue coming thru the exhaust. (Black slime on your finger)
I could be completely wrong BTW, but for the 30 seconds you will spend, you may find something...
(Hope it helps)

a good mechanic will have the tools
to be able to replace the valve stem seals with the heads on
so shouldnt cost as much as taking the heads of
and all the extra work that takes to do .
so ring around and get a fair price ... it may help delay your oil problem
