Hi guys I was wanting to know as I have come up with a bit of a plan to fix the smokey TF I have, one of the guys at my work has the exact model and color magna exec V6 as I do and he is looking at buying another car for his family and ia was thinking is if he wants to sell me the car at a good price as he said today he would get stuff all from the yard, want exactly will I need to do to swap the engines over from his to mine.
Pretty much if I have both full cars sitting side by side what do I need to undo in mine to swap just the engine, my magna has recently had new CVs in along with the trans being about 6-7 years old.
So in saying that what and how do I go about a swap and how long would it take to do cheers

To be honest if you are asking such questions perhaps get someone who can help you or pay to get it done

Trans does not have to come out for starters, if your mates car is also a TF is just a matter of unbolting the motor from your car, unbolt the motor from his car and put back into your car

Now the ins and outs, ie what exactly you have to undo, what order etc etc is something you need to know before you start and something I doubt many would have the time to type out.

One hint, leave the power steering pump and the air con pumps in the car, dont disconnect lines as many here will tell you to do. Motor will come out without touching the transmission as well.

Ok cool was just wanting to make sure there were no special ways to go about this swap and didn't want to make a simple job to become a long drawn out affair if you get my drift. cheers

Agreed with madmagna, it's NOT a simple job to do. It is dangerous if not done correctly. Unless you have a fair amount of knowledge you should probably shy away from doing it yourself, unless you have a mate that has a good idea of what to do. (Be sure to reward said mate with beer and food)

Last time I pulled a motor it took a weekend, 1 day out 1 day in. I was by no means rushing with a couple of trips to super cheap for random stuff with stops for lunch and a few moments of frustration.

Best thing to do is buy a workshop manual or download and have a good read... It will give you an idea of what's really involved......
