i'm going to be replacing the 2 channel amp that i had powering my subs very soon and need something half decent with at least 800w RMS @ 1 ohm. would prefer something under the $250 mark if anybody knows of any.

Shoot FHRX Studios in NSW an email and see if they have anything on special, or try street sound and vision in Keilor too.

The main issue will be you basically will need to get something second hand as for something that price new they aren't normally 1ohm stable and that power is a bit of an ask.

I know I will probably get flamed for this, but I am happy with my Jaycar monoblock. I know it probably isn't doing the 1000wrms it says it will, but it is handling the 1ohm load without a trouble. So maybe if things get tight that could be an option. Its working for me on a single type R 12. Wired in parallel.

Why would you get flamed? The Jaycar amps are renown for budget equipment that does deliver id recommend them and if you are willing to up your budget to $300 it would still be a good deal.

well i've picked up more hours than i had thought i would over the coming month, so $300-350 would be fine.

I just picked up a JL 500/1 FOR $120 ... The guy I bought it from said that he may be selling his 1000/1 shortly..

I can't imagine he'd be chasing much for the 1000/1..

I'll flick him a text and let you know Brodie.

I've spotted a couple for sale at: http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums/index.php?showforum=41

I've bought gear from the guys on the forum - very happy with my old school RF Punch 100.2 and Jaycar 2 channel amp which I'm running bridged at about 500rms. :)
