View Full Version : Delayed start

I've finally bought myself a 380 road car, 2006 LS in quite good nick, only down side is the color, geriatric tan (probably goes well with my age) but I have a small problem someone may help me with before I start pulling things apart.
On turning the key to start the engine, often there is a delay before the engine starts (starter cranks), and sometimes it takes a few on/offs with the key to start.
Anyone point me in the right direction?

Max, no......
Neil, is a common issue with ignition switch, mits sell them for around the $60 mark. The switch comes loose and then the poor contact causes arcing

in the meantime Neil ,try actually pushing the key in as you turn it ...seems to work for me ,though i badly need to get a new switch.

Dont have the part number on me, will not be back at work officially until the 6th Jan
Specific, ignition switch, you have the barrel the key goes into which turns the switch..

Thanks guys, seems like it is the the bottom key switch, works ok if you push in. Sorry for the trouble, saw the other thread about the prob after my post. Thanks MAX, knew you would have a comment, your post count hasn't updated for awhile.

Was going to post about this problem, but looking at the other thread, I'd only be repeating myself. lol
Haven't posted for a while, phone line went down for 8 days. No phone ringing was nice, but not getting on the internet was a source of withdrawal symptoms. lol
