View Full Version : Suspension
Hi Guys,
I'm currently looking to purchase a set of dobinson springs and sachs shocks for a TJ wagon.
Just wondering where the best place is to purchase them and at what price i'd be looking at for them.
Cheers,
John

Ummmm from me I would think, you should have asked a couple days ago when I saw you :)
Fronts will not be available until late Jan Early Feb
Rears and springs I should have on the shelf

Thanks Mal,
Work has given me some extra shifts so im able to start looking earlier than expected :)
How much would i be looking at to purchase shocks and springs? (superlow fronts if that has any effect)

Superlows in the front will give the car a more balanced stance, the front end in these models is far too high, I have lows all round and if I wasnt so worried about the GE Lip ive had painted twice in the course of a year and a bit I would drop the front down to supers.

I have lows in the front of mine and even with just them I still need to be careful with driveways and humps.
I have not tried super lows myself, but some reckon they negatively affect the handling.
Superlws will look better but start to get impractical then.

Super low looks better BUT will destroy most dampers in short time, will destroy the bump stops and while it may look balanced it does NOT even up the car at all, it drops the front more thus the car is no longer balanced at all. So wheel arches look more even but that is about it.
The reason the front arch has more gap is because it is designed this way so when on lock and turning there is little to no chance of the wheel hitting the wheel arch. Most cars have this design.
Your best options is to have lows all around, if you want to arrange a day to pop out and have a look at my wagon that will give you an indication of the height of the car on lows. Other great thing is your front bar will still be there in the morning.

Mal said the same thing to me about putting the lows in as apposed to the super lows with the dobinson springs. Best piece of advice ever...the car is low, but just clears most drive ways and everything so is perfect . I'd say go the lows
Hmm, i seemed to think the SL fronts and L rears where the norm... Ill have to check out people with lows all round and see what i reckon

I reckon it goes pretty evenly either way (regarding Superlow front/Low rear verse Low front/Low rear).
Superlows on the front are strictly to keep the wheel arch gap the same front and back the same. As Madmagna said, Lows all round are a far better combo in every other way.
Would there be anything wrong with doing coilovers at the front and just shocks and springs at the back?
I know the coils arent bolt on to the wagons rear.
