Started this in the wrong section before.
Anyway, have a 97 TF V6 Auto Exec that has been in the family since new.4weeks ago it was taken to work and running sweet as usual. My daughter finished work, tried to start the car and the battery was just about flat.her boyfriend tried to Jump start it!Trying to fix it has been a nightmare. Now it is at the dealers, and they cannot get passed the immobiliser with their scan tool!they need the computer code ( 4 digits ) to get in and register the keys again.is this correct?anyone had the same?

Letting the battery go flat and trying to jump start has nothing to do with it not running now, unless the jump start has spiked the ECU.

What scan tool is the dealer using, and why are they trying to re-register the keys? Unless they are trying another ECU . . .

They say the immobilisor has a code?that has to match the key?don't know about the scan tool type? The old girl has spark , fuel but no injector pulse.if we find the master key code will that let them in? Or do I need to find a donor car with all the bits the same to make it run again?

Actually, the right scan tool will read the immobiliser codes, and be able to pair the keys with the immobiliser.

Either they are not communicating effectively with you, or are using the wrong scan tool, or have no idea what they are doing.

The correct procedure is to start by reading the error codes. All it takes is a paperclip.

Ask them if they have read the error codes, and what scan tool they are using.

There's a "how to" reading the error codes on this forum.

what if there were no codes showing?could you still have a no start no injector pulse situation?i found the original owners manual today and it says that the immobiliser can accept up to 8 key registrations only?maybe they have stuffed it up like you said and cannot get into the immobiliser circuit?they tell me that they are getting no communication from the car?what model scan tool from mitsubishi suits this model?maybe they have both master keys on the key ring together confusing the reader/immobiliser circuit?

they tell me that they are getting no communication from the car

what model scan tool from mitsubishi suits this model

Let's get one thing straight. With the right scan tool, or a paper clip, the error codes should come up. The immobiliser is not involved in this. The ECU can accept up to 8 keys, but they are not trying to ENCODE KEYS, they are trying to READ ERROR CODES. Two different things altogether.

If they get a "everything is ok" response from the scanner, there are still other possible causes for a problem.
If they get no response at all, either they are not using the right scanner or the ECU is dead.
If they get an actual error code, they need to act on that.

As for "what model scan tool suits this model", not going into that as I don't know, and I asked first, you find out what they are using and someone will hopefully tell you if they are on the right track.

Give them another 3 weeks to stuff around, then tow the car to someone else, someone with the right knowledge and tools to sort it out.

The 4 digit code they want is like a pin code we use to programme keys. I am not sure why they are trying to programme keys however, seems a little silly

Most likely is that the ECU or the Immob has died, is not uncommon in these older Magna's Simple fix is get a used pack and install that,
