I have noticed that the climate control in the TLs looks decidedly low tech, compared to the climate in my TJ VR-X.
Is the later CCtrl as good as the TJ version? Anyone know? :D

I believe Mitshi decided it was to complicated apparently alot of people complained about it so they have made it simpilar to use, still just as functional

You're talking about the climate control that comes standard in the TL? I think they just made it an analogue rotary dial instead of using the fancy but probably unnecessary lcd type panel that the TJs and Veradas use. I'd expect the rest of the gear behind the dials is the much the same.
That said.. I still like mine better.

Anyone know? :Dfrom what i can gather the underlying system is still the same..... just the controls are different... also i think the upper market systems (VRX - Veradas) still use a flasher version (with LCD etc), its just the standard is now CC instead of plain old A/C!
edit: just went and checked the MMAL website... the Verada uses the same as the base models!! mind you i'd never sat in a new verada though, just thought it would be the case... even so, i'm sure it would work just as well and be simpler to use

Me too. But the little complaint I have: it should show both inside and outside temp. Esp here in Canberra.. it's nice to see how close to 0 degrees it is in the morning. :D Or, when its warm.. whether the A/C is coping with 33 degrees outside! :D Many other lesser cars show both in and out at the same time. :)

I agree, its very handing knowing the outside temp but id be interested in cabin temp also.
I was going to reroute my outside air temp sensor to my induction which would be handy. But i like knowing how cold it is outside lol

That sounds like a cool idea. I wonder if you could by another sensor as a spare part and wire up another inside the cabin, attached to a switch, then you could toggle between inside and outside sensors using your new switch.. hmm
Of course being in Darwin as I am I could just hard-wire the external sensor to HOT and save myself the trouble..

heck yeah... i wish it would show interior temp (sometimes i swear im freezing when i shouldnt be) rather than just target interior temp.
took me a while to figure wot that beeping was when i was driving to work at 5am (it was the climate control beeping to say it was 0 degress outside!).
and much prefer TJ cc to TL... was looking at a nu TL vrx today... and i thought it had plain old A/C in it for a sec...wtf?
WSDcoooolz.
PS: i do need the 8 hour brake work done on my awd....awwwwww. (and a nu rear window)

how close to 0 degrees eh! I live in nth nsw and 1300m above sea level. (closer to brisbane than sydney) It has gone below 0 deg here most nights over the last 4 months, the coldest this year was a -15 deg night. Last year it went to -18 deg. Try working on the car with frostbitten fingers. Damn extreme climate here, it goes over 40deg in summer.
There is a sensosr inside the cabin right next to the temp control knob behind thegrill part(according to the manuel) which make sense otherwise how would it know what temp it is in the car but now all you got to do is find out how to wire it in!!!! :)

(FYI my parents live down south of Walcha, so i know the area ok). Yeah i hate cold mornings, especially when trying to ride motorbikes and theres frost all over the gates and the ground is slippery as (not matter how much tread you got left!!). And no matter how good you jacket, helmet and gloves are, you still end up with a frozen nose!!

Ok, smarty. I left out the bit where I get up and go to work in -7 to -9... but most mornings in winter its around 0 to -4 when I go to work. 7:30am. Some days it doesn't hit 0 until 11:00am.. sometimes . -2 at 8:30 is very common. 0 at 9:00am is common. :p
